Rise of Covid

We should have been in Edinburgh today for the Festival but the alarming news of the rise of Covid cases there from 15,000 a week ago to 35,000 decided it. We stayed put. In the garden.
 
Edinburgh is second to Leeds with the most Covid cases of the new variant Eris.
 
Scientists are worried that this variant has more mutations than Omicron and thus can evade existing vaccines.
 
 
Dr Trisha Greenhalgh  of Oxford University wrote on Twitter:” it looks like its once again time to MASKUP.”
 
Only yesterday I came across some old cloth masks and I was on the verge of throwing them out when I changed my mind- in case they might be needed.
 
So far there is no evidence yet that this new variant poses a serious threat to health.
