Eastern bank of the River Medway.
This panorama was taken from the right hand end of the big Asda At Home building shown in the panorama posted on 21st March 2013. The shot also complements the panorama of a better side of the river taken on 16th May 2013 showing the Archbishop's Palace and All Saints Church.
It serves to further illustrate my point that the riverside, which could have been such an asset to the town has been blighted and spolit by roads and development on both sides of the river. What should have been a jewel in Maidstone's crown is nothing less than an ugly urban area.
This shot shows the river and the riverside walk and grassed area sealed in by a dual carriageway with some pretty uninspiring buildings behind, especially the massive bulk of the House of Frazer. I'm sure other towns have suffered the same fate but that does not make it acceptable.
I was on my way back from a meeting at a school where I'm a governor. After its Ofsted the school was looking at strategies to continue improvement and had invited in a company specialising in school improvement. Good stuff, but something strikes me as not quite right about private, profit making companies being the gatekeepers of knowledge and information which coukd be of great benefit to all schools.
