Travels Through A Lens

Rodeo in Colorado

The day started in Moab, setting the alarm for 6am to head back to the Arches National Park whilst it was still relatively cool as it gets swelteringly hot by 10am with the sun heating up the rocks and sand and very little shade. Went to the 'windows' section which has quite a few huge holes in the rock that have been created over millions of years through water and wind erosion. The early morning sun lit up the rock faces showing off the colours and formations. Then headed back to the motel for breakfast and packed up ready for the hitting the road again.

Love Moab and would go back as there is also plenty in the National Park I didn't get to see in the short time there.

Drove from Moab over the state line to Cortez, Colorado. The landscape changing from mountains to more flatter planes as we we went higher in elevation. Lots of farms and pinto beans being grown.

Found out the rodeo was in town for 3 nights so headed up to it. It was the Ute Mountain Round Up Rodeo, 83rd anniversary and it was family night with the 4/5 year olds sheep bare back riding. The whole night was a spectacular show of skill and courage riding the bucking horses and bulls (the men this time). Catching the cattle by hand jumping from a horse or with a lasso. The light was fading and I was in zoom with my standard lens and would have loved to get in closer but it was fantastic anyway. I'm writing this at 7am next morning to get it posted so my brain isn't in gear yet and I am struggling to describe it very well :)
