The tipping point of the summer

I got to the lake early and parked up in field beside L'Ecume des Jours.  The grass was dewed and there was a distinct smell of damp earth and mushrooms.

15 August, The Assumption of Mary (Tierna was oblivious of this despite being a good NI catholic girl).  Weirdly this secular country takes today religiously seriously and the shops that bother to open at all are shut by midday.

For pagans and Christians alike, it's the day that tips the summer into something else.

Someone had made a little fruit bowl out of lake clay and Bernie, oblivious to anything jumped on it and broke it.

The sky above the lake was veiled but the heat built up during the day and by the evening the Assumption storm broke as it should.
