At a first glance in Salisbury Cathedral there appears to be a large black mirrored table in the nave.  This ten foot wide cruciform shape full of water looks like a still pool with water continuously overflowing through each corner into bronze gratings in the cathedral's stone floor. It is is a very unusual font designed by William Fry and installed in 2008 where it is possible to do immersion baptisms.  On approaching the font there are magnificent reflections of the pillars and windows of the nave.
Among other attractions at the cathedral there is the oldest working clock in Europe (1326) and the tallest spire in Britain (404 feet (123metres) and one of only four original copies of the Magna Carta which has influenced the major legal decisions throughout the centuries since 1215 and still does so.
