What the?

1, We used to have a poly tunnel.
2. In between the raised beds I used a long piece of thick rubber conveyor belting to create a maintenance free path. It has been down for years.
3. Decided to lift it and move it elsewhere in the garden.

On turning it over it revealed a massive ants nest, thousands of the wee critters. Absolutely fascinating, like a little city with roadways and chambers. By the time I got my camera they had nearly all gone underground with a few dashing about rescuing tiny white eggs. What organisation as they mobilised. 

An hour later not a one to be seen.
