Oh, Happy Day

Although headed out to the garden to trim back a few potato plants, I stopped by the caterpillar box, as I frequently do, to examine dill and fennel plants for any signs of life. It’s been a regular part of my daily routine, except for when it rains, since June. What a welcome surprise to see this black swallowtail caterpillar enjoying a fennel plant!! Woohoo!! He’s good sized so he’s obviously camouflaged himself well :)) • Fingers crossed he survives, and is able to successfully overwinter as a chrysalis. It’s unreal they’re able to survive our temperatures and wintery conditions • Now I’m wondering if he’s not alone :)) • Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
