INCONVENIENCE

This is the current view from my window. The house next door has now been undergoing renovation for six months and this is the fourth skip-load of stuff. Each time I see the owner to ask how much longer he's told me "one month", but his English is very poor and we haven't been able to ask much more. However, we had an interesting conversation about ten days ago with his builder (who stays in the house overnight). He told us that the owner keeps taking advice from other people and changing his mind after work has been done, and the builder has taken up floors, re-plumbed, re-tiled, rewired, replastered and repainted several times over to move things like showers, toilets, doors and windows about after having supposedly finished them. He told us he and the owner don't have a common language and that although he gets paid he's fed up and disgusted and will be leaving this week (I think). He gave us a sneaky look inside and what he has done is brilliant - superb workmanship, but it must be a nightmare. Now there's another crew at work on the outside of the house - doing something in the backyard which we can't see, and they've painted the bricks at the front of the house - very badly - which now makes it look completely out of keeping with the rest of the old terrace. So... heaven knows when it will be finished, but at least we can stop asking "whatever are they doing in there?" when we hear all the banging about. Our other question is "when is that ****** skip going to be collected?"
