Flowers and cake

Mum’s birthday is actually tomorrow but we had her, @xtoph1 and Sarah, Jono, Sue and Izzy over to lunch.  Joint effort, V roast a chicken and accompanied it with stuffed peppers, Sue brought a quinoa salad. I made an almond cake (Claudia Roden) and served it with blackberry and apple icecream. 

I woke early and made the ice cream.  Great internet recipe from Waitrose website. I then took W down to the shops for the papers as the sun came out after a wet night.   My trousers and shoes got soaked as we walked through the lush growth beside the field. 

It was a lovely day, we managed to sit outside for drinks but inside for lunch. Mum enjoyed her cake, but the icing sugar went everywhere when she blew out the candles…

Hannah spent the day in London walking miles and seeing some video art exhibitions..which is sort of her job.
