Red Apples

Today's the day ....................... for the pick of the crop

Will has spent most of the day picking the apples from the seven trees that we have in the garden.

They were in the garden when we came - and in fact, we know they have been here for a long time because we've seen old photographs of the house that show them.  We've also met two elderly ladies who told us that they used to pinch apples from the trees back in the 50s, when they were young girls!

There are six different kinds of apples, both eating and cookers - and it's been a good year for them all.  The only trouble is that we know that none of them will keep very long (because we've tried) and so it's a case of giving them away - or finding somewhere where we can juice them.

But whatever happens, it's Food for Free and that is something that should be treasured ........................
