The birthday bank holiday
We all were so tired last night but thankfully slept well. This morning I was still feeling a bit nauseous but by mid morning it seemed to pass and I have felt fine for the rest of the day, which was just as well as today was the bank holiday birthday celebration. With Adam's birthday yesterday, and mine tomorrow, we usually spend the bank holiday celebrating both birthdays. This year we went into London to Rovi, an Ottolenghi restaurant, I have been there before and knew the food would be delicious. We also went into London to make it easier for Luke as he is studying madly for his CFA (Certified Financial Analyst) exam which is on Friday - a four hour exam that has a very low pass rate!
As expected the food was outstanding - small plates of exquisite flavour combinations. As we were ending the meal Tommy started feeling nauseous, and actually on the drive home after lunch we had to stop the car as he got sick and is now in his bedroom feeling sick again. I think he has a tummy bug and maybe I had a milder version of it yesterday.
Gavin took this photo of Adam and I after lunch, before we dropped him off at Kings Cross Station to get the train home to Cambridge. We always try to celebrate our birthdays together and next year it is very possible we may go visit him in San Diego to celebrate the birthdays! (As he is moving there around May next year for his post doctoral fellowship research)
We have been lucky with the weather, it has been sunny since we got home yesterday and in fact the garden looks a bit dry so I am not sure how much rain we have had when we were away. It often rains on a bank holiday but not this time!
And so the end of the weekend concludes a most wonderful and memorable holiday and our special family time together, tomorrow it is back to reality again. We are a close family and I suppose partly because of emigrating to a new country and not having any other family near us, has made us closer than some other families.
