Sunflower

T had his first day off  for weeks and gave us all  a treat by cooking a roast lunch!  It was delicious.  Later K and I and two of the dogs walked across a stubble field to the wild flower/green manure/bird seed acreage.  The sunflowers were just blooming and are majestic.  

Sunflowers originated in the Americas and their remains have been found in Mexico dating back 4,600 years.  The North American Indians used/use the plants for food, medicine and yellow dye.  It is also the national flower of the Ukraine.
