Guarding the Museum
After my post cataract checkup at Orange we headed home via the lovely historic village of Millthorpe where we had lunch.
Mr isbi noticed the museum was open so we called in. It was a particularly impressive one. Lots of exhibits, but not as musty, dusty and over stocked as many battling country ones are. It is a bit disconcerting to notice how many objects are well remembered as everyday items from one's childhood :-(
I liked the sculptures made of bits and pieces you find lying around any farm or junk yard. Much more skilfully put together, as in the main blip, than some of the modern art you see.
It was exciting to see information and a photograph (extra) of my great grandmother's brother (which I think makes him my great grand uncle) who, along with his brother James and John Lister, discovered the first payable gold in Australia in 1851.
I have a ring made from some of the 4oz nugget.
Then we made an overdue visit to 59 and Bob on the way home. An added bonus was catching up with Maddie and Nina.
