Lunch with the Dean
Being as far away and attractive as it is, Cape Town is one of those places where the expression "small world" gets a lot of mileage. While here for a meeting exploring options for KFBS having a greater presence in SA and Africa in general, Dean Jim Dean received an email from a mutual friend telling him to look up Norton, and (I believe) was pleasantly surprised to find out about the work our Tarheel-laden organization has been doing over here (Norton was a Morehead Scholar at Chapel Hill, Lindsey's team won the Carolina Challenge last year, I graduated from KFBS, and we're currently hosting five students from the Carolina Microfinance Initiative). With any luck, the relationship between our two institutions will only continue to grow from here.
Note that my "one year ago" icon has appeared at the bottom of the screen. I'm actually pretty excited about it.
