I am surprised the rufous hummingbirds are still in the neighborhood. They are smaller than most but are enormous bullies.They should be heading to Mexico in the not too distant future.

Did you know?
·         Hummers sleep upside down on a familiar, protected branch or bush at night.
·         They go into a state called torpor when they sleep.
·         They avoid bees and wasps at all cost with good cause.  Their stings can kill them.
·         Hummers can remember every flower and feeder they’ve visited and will return when the nectar sources refill.
·         Hummingbirds are attracted to red but it’s a myth they will only feed on red flowers.
·         Homemade nectar can be kept in a container in the refrigerator for two weeks.
