BLACKWELL, ARTS & CRAFT HOUSE
Hubby had arrange for the house alarm to be serviced today, so G and I popped into Grange to go to The Post Office and visit Daisy Roots, our fabulous second-hand (and new) bookshop.
After that we decided we would visit Blackwell, a fabulous Arts & Crafts House above Bowness. This was inspired by fellow Blipper FastAperture, which had reminded me that I hadn't been for well over a year.
We left Grange via Windermere Road, the B5271 up onto the A590 to Newby Bridge, where turned right and on to the A592 along the shores of Windermere to eventually join the B5360 up to Blackwell. I add this last bit for those of you that like to Google my journeys.
We started off with a coffee in their delightful café before going around the house. I have blipped it before, on a few occasions but it is always worth a visit.
They had a talk going on today, we missed the beginning of it so stood at the back, the group there eventually moved off to The Dining Room to continue the talk. We decided we would bow out as we had missed the beginning anyway, although it did sound interesting.
We had a good look around, took loads of photos and it was lovely and quiet. Once we'd finished with our look around (which we took about 90 minutes over) we then went for a nice light lunch in the café. Then walked around the house, enjoying the views, peace and sunshine.
They currently have an exhibition by an amazing Potter called Halima Cassell and they are rather stunning. WAY BEYOND my price range of course but wonderful to see.
It was getting somewhat too warm for me by then and G needed to rest so we went home. A lovely pleasant morning.
