A Crane Fly by any other name…
"The crane fly (tipula paludosa)"
…is still a pest.
"They go by many different names, such as the shovel fly, mosquito hawks. More commonly in the UK, they go by the name daddy longlegs,~ ~ ~ "
"We" knew them as either Danny/Daddy Longlegs or "Jinnyspinner". It's ruddy HARD to think a damn great hulking bruit of a Leather Jacket morphs into this delicate menace?
For the uninformed - How to sex a Daddy Longlegs? If you're tempted, by its rear end, to think male, that's the female (as is this one) and you're looking at its Ovipositor.
