During this current hot weather many British beaches were probably crowded this weekend but, as usual, there was hardly anyone here today. In over two hours we saw only six people swimming and one kayaking. Once we got over the shock of the cold water it was lovely swimming and floating in the slight swell and again being surprised that almost an hour had passed before emerging to dry in the warm sunshine without the usual shivering until we were dressed. It is a good beach at high tide and well worth the walk through woods and sand dunes, or along the coast from Gullane to get there and last year we had been fortunate to watch dolphins passing as we swam. Perhaps we might return late tomorrow afternoon again when the tide is favourable. By the time we arrived home the sun was setting.
