Over the years we have climbed many of the Lake District mountains but never been on a cruise on the lakes except on Derwent Water.  Today we decided to take one on Lake Windermere and this is the view looking towards the hills north of Ambleside where we bought food for a picnic from the famous Apple Pie Shop.  The mountains to the west were shrouded in mist and veils of clouds but we were very fortunate as whenever there were very heavy showers we could shelter and we had a drink in the sun when we disembarked at Bowness.
