Mono Monday. : : White on White

Full confession...this image was made years ago, but I played around with the white balance after I converted it to mono today.  I did look for a new white flower but there are none to be found just now. I thought about various white pieced of crockery but they seemed pretty boring.

Today is Labor Day holiday here and we both celebrated it by working all day. Jim and Dana came by with Will, here to look at a chair my brother drove all the way up from San Diego to pick up but despite careful measurements, there was no way we could shoehorn it into his car. Peter, having won the discussion over who gets it, has already taken the cement coffee table. One good thing about setting up 'grown up apartments' is that there is usually an opportunity for us to contribute unwanted items. I'm going to make a quilt for Will and Chloe. I told him that I'm starting on the third round of quilts I've made for his life  passages . I made him a quilt when he was born 25 years ago, and a high school graduation quilt made from old sports jerseys.

We walked partway back to their house with Spike which requires walking up quite a steep hill. That definitely felt like work today. I cleaned up my red cooker, went down the fabric rabbit hole searching for particular patterns for Will and Chloe's quilt (No Flowers, but leaves and fish, yes, fish, are ok.)  It will take awhile for them to get here so I'll have time to finish the current quilt, which I worked on for awhile.

John worked in the garden clearing out dry cut grass and leaves, and cleaning up and removing plants that got blasted during the heat wave. He researched microwaves as ours has officially died, but neither of us wanted to go and buy one, although there were probably some labor day bargains to be had.

Spike kept himself busy following me up and down the hall with his Kong and sleeping with half his brain, while monitoring my movement with the other half.  It looks like lovely weather outside for a glass of wine and throwing the Kong for Spike before dinner.
