Wish you were here...
I stocked up the bird feeders first thing. It felt a bit reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds' feeling loads of pairs of eyes watching me from bushes, trees and in a line along the roof of the shed. Let's see.. The menu comprised of fat balls, three lots of bird seed, nuts, mealworms (stinky!) and worst of all suet cake enriched with insects which I'd bought in Ayr. That stuff was sticky and broke up as I was getting it out of the packet and I felt quite queasy squashing the mixture which was a bit like biscuit dough into the container. The robin got stuck in before I'd even moved away! The starlings at least waited until I'd shut the back door...
After I'd scrubbed my hands (several times) and had breakfast (in that order), my feet took me down the canal again. It was another lovely day here in the Midlands although not as hot as previous days. There wasn't anyone down there at first but it wasn't long before several cyclists passed me in one direction or another. It was heavenly. I could have quite easily carried on but started back after an hour, mainly as I needed the loo! Sorry to spoil the mood there but one disadvantage of drinking lots of water on hot days is that you do need to spend a penny - Ha! When is the last time you went to a public loo and it only cost a penny? It was 20 pence last time I was at Glasgow Central or Edinburgh Waverley - sorry I digress. Where was I?
Oh yes. I headed back all the way and sat on a wall just before the Coventry Road in Sheldon having a lovely chat on the phone in the sunshine watching all the buses trundling across the lights at the Wheatsheaf. There endeth Saturday. I shall watch the final of Britain's Got Talent and then go to bed I think as I have a stuffy head and am losing my voice. No cheering please! While I still have fingers to type, I still rattle on!
Track? Well, one of my favourite Pink Floyd classics came to mind while I was walking. I love the words - Wish You Were Here
