Fly me to the Moon
Another gloriously sunny, hot day. It’s reached 28°c but it won’t last so I am not going to complain about the heat, just enjoy reading (in the shade) in the back garden.
I took this shot just after watching the first flights of the young house martins from the nest under our side gable early this morning (extra). Really lucky to catch all the commotion.
I was pleased to get a photo of the waning moon and an aeroplane in the same shot. It will be some time before EasyJet is flying to that destination however.
This year lots has been going on in space. Currently India’s Chandrayaan-3 module is sitting at the moon’s South Pole, a source of great pride to that country. Russia’s flight to the moon, its first since the days of the USSR, failed. The USA and China are also in the mix, in the former Elon Musk and SpaceX have emerged as significant commercial players. And the one that I think is the most interesting is the European Space Agency’s launch in April of the JUICE mission to 3 of Jupiter’s 80 to 95 moons (no one seems to know the exact number). It’s going to take over 8 years to get there.
