Vivaldi re-imagined
Another BBC Prom concert at the Royal Albert Hall this evening. This time with my eldest daughter, Paula, who came up from Brighton. She's a fan of Max Richter and the main piece, taking up the second half of the concert, was Richter's reworking of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. This was performed by the Britten Sinfonia conducted from the violin by Tom Gould. Another full house on a very balmy night gave the performers a very well deserved standing ovation. We were then treated to a lively encore which sounded like a familiar English folk tune to me. I'll have to check it out. The extra photo is of The Beatles playing the Great Pop Prom at the Albert Hall in 1963. They shared the bill with the Rolling Stones, one of only two occasions when they played at the same gig. Talking of the Stones, their new single released today is brilliant.
