"What are you writing?"
"Oh, it's an article"
"For a magazine?"
"No, just for myself...for my own creative sanity"
Leeds is hosting the annual Food Festival again this year, and the main square, as well as other prominent sites, have been taken over by large tents and kitchen equipment.
I hope to get more of a taste of the festival some other time as today we were headed for the Yorkshire coast and the beach! :)
Before all that however, I managed to capture Matt here outside one of the festival sites. He was busy writing something when I approached him and when I asked him for a picture he consented immediately and carried on with his writing. Most of the shots I got of him were of him looking down, concentrating on his notepad. I asked him to look up for my final shots and this is the one I choose for today.
Matt works at the ultra-posh Everyman cinema in the Trinity Centre. We talked a little about the cinema and films, we didn't find a mutual taste in films but could quite easily talk about them for a while.
I asked him about what he was writing and he said it was an article. He didn't go into any specifics unfortunately and in my defense I didn't want to pry too much so I left it at that. He did add that it wasn't for any piece in a magazine or paper, but purely "for my own creative sanity," he said.
"I know exactly where you're coming from," I replied and chatted a bit more about my project.
It made me wonder how many other people require creative outlet(s) in their lives, and how it serves to keep them from imploding. Prior to picking a camera up in 2010 I didn't really have one...but I don't think I could do without it now.
