In the Dock
This morning G and I set off early for a trip into Norwich, aiming to do all we had planned before it got too hot. We started with a quick look around the cathedral, then had a cuppa and an almond croissant at the refrectory. Then we walked to the Guildhall where we had tickets for a guided tour as part of the Heritage Open Days programme. An interesting tour, although I think we both thought it too long at an hour and a half. The Guildhall was built between 1407 and 1413 to provide space for civic government and administration of justice. It’s still got the unused Victorian court (the dock is in my photo), a jail / dungeon, a council chamber and now is bizarrely a municipal building - such a waste of a historic building in the heart of the city, getting a tour is not easy. We both went off to do a bit of shopping independently before going home. An incredibly tiring day, I think because it was very humid.
