Along For The Ride

I’ve seen Aynsley Lister play in Kendal on a couple of occasions, though not for about seven years. Partly down to Covid, partly down to me not being around and partly down to Aynsley not including Kendal in his touring schedule.
However, last night he played the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and we had tickets for the gig. Fortunately, it was in the main theatre so not quite as hot as it could have been. And we were treated to some superb blues rock guitar playing from Mr Lister, ably backed by an equally adept drummer and bass player.
The set covered songs from throughout his twenty five year career so we heard some old favourites as well as tracks from his latest album. The latter sounded pretty good, so it was disappointing that “supply chain issues” meant that it wasn’t possible to buy it from the merch stand last night. One for the Christmas present list, I think.
It’s been very hot again today so we’ve not done a lot this afternoon, though we did manage a gym session and some shopping this morning. Second read through for Panto tonight so I’m going along to try out some different characters to those I read for on Sunday. It’s quite unusual for me to read a Panto script and not instantly have a preference for one particular character, but maybe that’s not a bad thing because it means whatever part I get, I’ll enjoy doing it!
