Another stressful day
We got in our hire car this morning only to find we had a puncture. We returned to our apartment and called Enterprise roadside assistance. That was the beginning of our troubles. After endlessly being passed from person to person we were told that they would send out a tow truck to recover the car and we would then be taken by Uber to the nearest Enterprise office to pick up a replacement. Simples? Actually no.
The tow truck took two hours to arrive after which we called to find out about the Uber. We were told it was on its way. Nothing arrived. An hour later we tried again. We were told an Uber would arrived in 15 minutes and could we sit outside the hotel foyer. Thirty minutes later still no Uber. We rang again. We were told the Uber couldn’t come and collect us as we had a British phone number, which they were barred from using and we should make our own way the Enterprise office. Can you believe it? The hotel took pity on us and got their handyman to drive us there.
Just as we set off the sky began to turn dark. Ten minutes later we were passing through the mother of all thunderstorms. Truly, I was scared. We eventually arrived at the Enterprise office about 20 minutes before closing to be told there was a single car left, take it or leave it. It was fully electric. Not having any experience of electric cars and how easy it would be to charge we were not happy. I kept arguing but the manager said he had booked our every other car. Just as we were walking out to the electric vehicle someone returned a Mitsubishi hybrid. We asked if that could be made available to us. With a bit of persuasion it was handed over.
At least we have a car (although not the planned luxury one), at least I can get in and out more easily than the BM, at least the thunderstorm has brought the temperature down a bit and at least tomorrow is another day.
