Hill

We started a walk, intending to go up Balduff Hill - but didn't bargain for the route being out in the open and it being unfeasibly hot. We only ascended a small distance before diving under some beech trees for shade and taking a diversionary route back towards the woods. Just noticed that you can see the top turrets of the Big Hoose sticking up amongst the trees.

On our way home, sweating profusely, we were very pleased to spy the ginger pigs (Tamworths?) who were dozing in the shade.

Later there were beavers (I've found I can often locate them by hearing their vigourous gnawing before I see them), but not even a half decent photo. Did encounter a tiny toad-let - have met several during our stay, approx the size of my thumbnail.
