Waiting

Attempted to take the kids to bagels this morning but we got out too late, ended to treating them to a bag of croissants we picked up at the grocery store. Mindy worked and went for drinks with some coworkers while I tended to dinner etc.
When she got home we made gimlets and played Dr. Mario.
I’ve been listening to a book by Irving Finkel that examines the history and translation of the various cuneiform ark tablets. His writing style is very conversational and he has a keen sense of humor. He gives technical details but mostly focuses on the cultural history and comparative analysis of the narratives on each tablet which are aspects that lay folk like myself can easily comprehend. Apparently there is a documentary where he builds an ark based on the methods prescribed in one of the tablets. I’m looking forward to watching it after I finish the book.
Edgar loves the kitten and sits and whines at the edge of the couch when she disappears beneath it. It’s a nice break for her, his incessant investigation of her smells can be a bit much.
