I’d not like to meet that dog

Silly Saturday indeed!

Another scorching hot day and quite humid. Traffic has been horrendous all over the town caused by roadworks and closed roads wherever you go. The M20 eastbound was jammed around the town as it was down to two carriageways. Yet the alternative M2 was shut owing to construction.

Several of our local roads are closed through gas main replacement. And the Leeds - Langley road is closed for 6 months for a water main replacement. All worthy projects resulting in all traffic being funnelled onto one or two routes with the inevitable consequences.

In our area, unless you are prepared to walk or cycle there is no alternative to the car as bus services have just been reduced again. Some radical rethink needs to happen.

Being Silly Saturday we did some silly things. We added to the traffic by going over to the other side of town for a walk by the Medway in the relative cool of the tree lined banks.

This afternoon, as the temperature rose to 33c I painted a fence, admittedly in the shade and under a parasol. Tomorrow, I’m at Rolvenden signalbox on a learning turn. The box is warmer than a furnace on sunny days.

Thank you for your comments and stars over the past few days. Events have conspired against me being able to reciprocate to your journals.
