Gila Woodpecker

(Melanerpes uropygialis)

I had a few photographs of this bird, some were clearer and closer.
I decided to post this one, as it was more pleasant to look at.
The male of the species has a red spot on his head,
thats the only way to distinguish the male from the female.
Also, this is my first semi-successful image of a bird in flight.
I've been trying for weeks now, trust me it's difficult.
