Pasture fed by the sea.

At church this morning one of Mrs AMK’s friends dropped a hint that my wife was fancying a little drive down the coast ! I didn’t ignore it and we set off for Bowhouse ,  a farm I used to visit occasionally but now with the steading converted into a market place with food stalls and a butchers.

We then headed to Ardross a little further along the coast, which is a farm I used to visit regularly. Still very much a working farm but with an award winning farm shop selling their own animal and vegetable produce , meals created in the farm kitchen as well as other mainly  local produce. They have a wonderful ethos with the farm being one of only 7 in Scotland with “ Pasture for Life “ certification and the blip shows some of their cattle grazing in this beautiful spot beside the sea alongside the Fife Coastal path.

Sadly the farmer Rob died a few years ago leaving his wife and three young daughters to run the business and they are doing an amazing job. Rob was a gentleman like his father and certainly one of my favourite farmers. Their house was one where a morning’s work always finished with coffee and home baking if not lunch.

Our outing ended with a short drive to Elie where we enjoyed an ice cream sitting on a bench. I believe a suitable report was sent to the church pals !
