Exlivet

By Exlivet

Built by my hero,

Thomas Telford in 1825, Croik Kirk’s main claim to fame is as an eviction kirk. In 1845, the Glencalvie folk were evicted to make way for sheep. They spent some time living in the kirkyard, not wanting to use the kirk, as they considered it disrespectful! This shot is from the ruined broch nearby.
Today, warm and sunny, was good for birds of prey. An Eagle was overhead here, being harried by some of the dozen or so Ravens, busy on a rocky knoll. There were also, Buzzards and Kites around.
A very pleasant walking day!
