Thistle Feeder

There are loads of these goldfinches about at the moment and they love to feed on the seeds of the prairie plants. Of particular interest, at the moment at least, are thistles. When they land, their weight makes the plant stem bend over, making it easier for me to locate them, as if waving a flag. They peck at the fluffy flower head and spit out the bits they don't like.

Also saw the cooper's hawk again today, albeit at a distance and smaller in the frame than the other day. The wood ducks are still there, but I'm afraid to go closer.
