Locomotive at the rear

An unexpected solo turn at Wittersham Road as the trainee who was due to have a learning turn at the box was unable to attend.

A good day, even finished early! The highlight of the day was the 13.10 from Tenterden which had No25 attached at the rear at Rolvenden for a test run to Bodiam and back.

No25 has been under restoration and repair for quite some time so it is a relief to see one of our own locos ready to re-enter service at last.

First time I’ve received and replied to the bell codes for a train entering section with locomotive at the rear. Ding Ding (entering section) which I acknowledge. Followed by Ding (call attention) which I acknowledge. Followed by ding ding - ding ding (loco at the rear) which I acknowledge. (or in numbers: 2 1 2 2)

The extra is of Swiftsure’s smoke box having some attention in Rolvenden yard this morning
