Quite a day

We were planning to walk the Kentmere horseshoe today, to add another 5 Wainwrights to the tally, but the forecast down there looked like very low cloud and poor visibility.

So we kept it relatively local (we were trying to keep all the local fells for the winter months, and get the more remote ones completed) by driving to Crummock, and walking Whiteside, Hopegill Head, Grasmoor, Wandope, Whiteless pike and Rannerdale Knotts.

We met a lady from Cockermouth on the way up the first fell, who was struggling a little on the scrambly bits, so we guided her up, and stayed with her in the thick cloud that had descended until we were coming off Grasmoor - when she took a different route. She was interested to hear about my charity walk, and when I got home found she'd donated £50 on the just giving page!

My total now stands at 103, only 4 more and I'm halfway!

Main pic was ar Bassenthwaite Lake at 11pm, I popped out as the skies were clear and had received a warning of Aurora activity. Certainly not as bright as Aprils, but a good start of the autumn / winter activities.

Extra is the view from Grasmoor, just as the cloud was breaking up.
