Aurora over Derwentwater
A fabulous day - Deb and I walked the Coledale horseshoe - silly season for weather, one minute it was chilly, the next boiling hot. Not as daft as in the Dolomites though, friends at the hotel we stayed at last week (who are still there) had snow! And it was 27 degrees last week.
A red Aurora warning dragged me off the sofa at 10pm, and for a change I went down to Ashness landing stage to shoot it. I'll put a couple more on my FB and Flickr pages, but I quite liked this - I lit the tree with my headtorch for 5 seconds of the 30 second exposure. Bizarrely, a year ago I blipped an Aurora from Bass Lake!
Extra shows the full Coledale horseshoe - left hand side was our route out, right hand ridge our route back.
