Cinderella carriage

MrM drove us over to Blackpool today to visit his sister Louise and her family for the first time in their new home. We travelled via the scenic route - through Nelson, Colne, and over the Trough of Bowland. A very long way round, but worth it for the fabulous and varied scenery, and after the event I really wished that I'd asked MrM to stop a couple of times for some landscape shots! Missed opportunities or what!

After the obligatory grand tour round their house, and catching up on each others' news over a cup of tea, Stuart drove us all to the other end of Blackpool to a chip shop that apparently sells the best steak puddings. (Not a great fan of this culinary delight I opted for fish, and very nice it was too!) We ate on benches with a sea view, and it started to rain as we finished, so the planned walk on the beach was abandoned and Stuart drove us back to their house. On the way we passed this horse-drawn 'Cinderella Carriage' (unfortunately, no chance of a view of the front) in which an elderly couple eating ice creams were riding along the Golden Mile. Cinderella Carriages didn't exist last time I was in Blackpool (probably in the late 90s') - think I prefer the old fashioned horse drawn landaus.

The rain stopped and there was time for a short walk on the beach with Stuart and a last cup of tea before we set off for home. We travelled back via the direct route...
