Falls of Dochart, Killin
Probably the best day out of the next few weather wise had us heading over to see the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel(extras). We arrived to see Duke and Baron bathed in the sunshine and despite the wind it was very pleasant walking around. However, the sky soon started to look ominous so we went to the visitors centre for a sandwich. Half an hour later and the rain still hadn't arrived and we thought it had blown through so started back for the car. It was only about 750m away but as we were about halfway there, the heavens opened and we got a real drenching. As we sat in the car contemplating our next move, the sun came out again! It was ridiculous really - the one and only rain shower of the day and we got caught in it.
Anyway, next stop was the Falkirk Wheel which is a feat of engineering and always worth the trip. By the time we'd finished there it was only around 2.30pm so we drove back through Callander towards The Falls of Dochart - another new place from the Welcome Meeting yesterday.
It was further than we thought so hubby got to do rather more driving than expected. It was a very pretty spot, but not quite what we were expecting. Rather than a tall waterfall, it was more a cascade of many different small waterfalls over the rocks - very picturesque though.
We had a fabulous meal at Scotts, the onsite restaurant, this evening and will return again on Monday, our last night.
