Wound up in Wexford

Just a stump that took my fancy

A fairly early start to the day when a man from the blinds shop came to measure our windows.

Then we needed to go shopping, but as the day seemed quite pleasant, I suggested a walk first.  We pass a small parking area with some marked trails en route into New Ross, so today we stopped there.

There was a choice of 4 marked trails on the map - two much longer than we wanted.  We opted for the blue trail.  The information board at the car park told us it was about 7km.  I see the website I've linked says it's 4,75km.  We did the full marked route.  It was a lovely walk through woodland, passing the fairy village, mostly uphill for the first half, eventually emerging at a great viewpoint, where there were monuments to the 1798 rebellion.  We continued to follow the blue route back to the car park.  On getting back to the car park "Map my walk" told me we did about 3,5km - quite a huge discrepancy!   Whatever the distance, it was a very pleasant walk, and far enough, given that we have lost a good amount of our strength and stamina during the last rather disrupted year.

We then drove nto New Ross and did our supermarket shopping.  By the time we emerged, it was spitting with rain.

T came in the evening to do some electrical work, including replacing an outside socket - this last job completed despite what by then had become quite  noticeable rain.

And as we sit in the garden room just now, we can hear it raining quite hard.  We definitely had the best of the day for our meander this morning.
