Cleopatra
Menorca Day 4
Two butterflies were at the top of my holiday blip wish list: Swallowtail and this one, the Cleopatra.
Cleopatras are very similar to the Brimstones which will be more familiar to UK blippers, particularly at rest. In flight though they are a much brighter yellow. I'd seen a few flitting about over the first few days, but this was the first day I managed to find one still enough to photograph.
Not all the wildlife spotting required rummaging through the undergrowth; in the late afternoon swifts swooped down to drink from the hotel pool, dodging in between the bathers.
