Fishy not on a dishy...
Backblip
But on a wall.
When we had our recent garage clear out we found this fish wall sculpture that we bought for the pool room ages ago (pre covid!) and forgot all about (because in this house, out of sight out of mind!) but at last it has reached its intended wall :-)
One of many tasks ticked off the to-do list today, although to be clear, this was D's task, not mine, but he was glad to tick it off his list.
The plan to tidy my wee studio has given us the kick up the backside we needed to clear out three cupboards, two wardrobes and a chest of drawers!!!
We are very fortunate that we don't lack cupboard space in this house. I suppose that's one of the joys of having an old house. There are three walk-in cupboards; one in the back hallway, one at the top of the stairs (utilised by the previous owner of the house as a linen cupboard and I have followed suit) and one in the ensuite of the smaller guest room. Of course the more space you have to store stuff, the more rubbish stuff you store!
Well today the cupboard in the wee bedroom ensuite was emptied. Six massive storage boxes of clothes I went through! Varying sizes! By the end I had managed to get rid of five boxes with one box of almost-fitting-too-good-to-get-rid-of clothes being kept (another stone should do it :-)
Two thirds of that cupboard is now empty and the plan is to move the boxes of photographs from the hallway cupboard downstairs up, to join the vacuum packed quilts and pillows we use when large numbers of people are staying and we have to use the blow up beds. Those vacuum bags are amazing. Bulky quilts and pillows reduced to flattened pancakes in a minute! There will be space left over in there but by the time the whole clear out is complete, I am sure we will have made use of it.
It was almost 7pm before I made it downstairs and really couldn't be bothered cooking so it was just as well I'd planned to make scallop, leek and chorizo gratin from the Quick Roasting Tin cook book. OMG! It was delicious! Virtually no prep and in the oven in 10 mins. Warmed a sourdough loaf in the oven for the last five minutes of cooking to accompany it. Perfect. Good enough to make for guests. It's going on my list of easy-but-impressive-dinner-dishes-for-entertaining.
After dinner, sat down to update my to do list (such satisfaction from those ticks :-) and upload this blip but fell sound asleep. Woke up at 11.30pm dazed and confused (D too! lol) and went straight to bed!
