Ffestiniog railway
Friday 15th September 2023
Unbelievably, another dry day. We started off by trying to find St Cybi's well. We managed to find the gateway to it but discovered it was across a couple of fields so gave it a miss. On to Criccieth to see the castle then on to Porthmadog, where we saw the Welsh Highland Railway. Unfortunately, there wasn't anywhere to park to go and see the train.
We moved on to Beddgelert, where we stopped for a drink and a walk along the river. As we returned to the car we heard the train and realised it had pulled into the station, which was up a hill. I left mum at the car and dashed to the top. I needn't have rushed as they were taking time to move the train from one end of the carriages to the other, which gave me time to get some photos.
We had our picnic in a similar location to Wednesday, then travelled on to go down the Llanberis Pass and stop briefly at the Snowdon Mountain railway. We had just enough time to watch the film of the train going to the top, with some wonderful drone photography.
On our way back to the cottage we stopped for tea with some friends at Criccieth. Another wonderful day.
