Savouring the nectar ....

When I went out with the dogs this afternoon I took my medium tele-zoom with me hoping that there might be some birds flying around as the tide was receding and there could be birds feeding close to the sea wall. No such luck, the birds were all way out in the bay.

So I had to resort to plan B using the long lens to obtain differential focussing - a sharp foreground with a blurred background. I used this technique on a variety of plants - hogweed hawthorn blooms, budding verbanum, laburnum branches. It was not easy as it was very blowy and I had to rack up the to stop motion blur. Not much use having a motion blurred subject with an out of focus background.

However, my final choice of blip had to be a beastie who crept into one of my images un-noticed. It looks like a wasp to me but it could be a bee which I have not seen before but it was having a whale of a time in this hawthorn blossom.
