Dusk in Polperro
Hooray, I’m back in Cornwall. A long and tedious afternoon drive, but I arrived at my friend’s house in time for a walk across the fields and down to the harbour. Very high tide, the water was lapping gently onto the street. Walked along by the sea for a while - then dark was falling as we walked back home via the harbour. I liked the light in the sky, and the lights outside the pub.
I’ve noticed before that gulls in Polperro are not at all fearful of people, and if you walk up close to them they don’t fly away. As I took a close-up of this young one, it suddenly let out a loud cry, such a wonderful familiar sound in seaside places. It made me jump!
By the way, the platform in the sea behind the gull isn’t an oil platform. It’s to do with improving the sewage processing - and it’s been going on a long time.
