Azure damselfly
Had a good morning at Shapwick Heath in Somerset. There were loads of other birders there looking for the pair of little bitterns that the RSPB have recently announced are breeding there, but we didn't bother. We did the right thing because people had been there since 5.00 am and when we left at lunchtime the birds hadn't been seen. Later in the season when/if the young have hatched they shopuld be more visible, so I'll go back then.
These blue damselfies are difficult to identify and I'm no expert but I think this is/these are azure damselfly coenagrion puella
