The day to start is today

Such a beautiful day. Open garden and Cream Teas, just what Somerset was made for. Strawberries, beautiful surroundings and sunshine. Gorgeous.

The garden owners were hosting a fund raiser for our local guide campsite and a local camp for youngsters from inner city areas who would not otherwise get the chance to get to places like this and enjoy the surroundings. The garden actually had a walk through meadow with a wiggly path cut through with a sit on mower, brilliant. Full to the brim with buttercups at the moment. After an afternoon chilling and finding because the Guides had it all under control, I wasn't even needed for the washing up ( time for another cup of tea) there was time to then went off with a friend to investigate her sister's garden, which was also incredibly beautiful.

So a day that has given me lots of ideas for mine but also reminded me how much work these gardens are. Ours is very straightforward and not much maintenance. These I visited today involve a lot of pruning and weeding to look as tidy as they do. On a summers day it must all seem worth it though.
