Clearing the Garden
Jan spent most of the day working heroically on the new flower bed. Yesterday we spent a lot of time clearing out the fern and loose strife that have grown there previously. Today she carried on and started planting.
I was clearing out a lot of other garden stuff, putting plants away for the winter, into the cellar. (That of course involved clearing out the cellar first!) Some of them sit in a cellar window and get a little water now and again to keep them alive. Others get put down into darker areas and dry out for the winter. Partly we are doing this now because we are about to go away for a while, but partly it's because this morning we awoke to a slightly white lawn. The first frost of the autumn.
I siphoned all the water butts empty and started putting away the watering cans, hence the blip today. Also in the same picture you can see small bits of a couple of snow shovels, a kick sledge, and a plastic kids sledge. Summer has ended, but winter isn't here yet!
PS I emptied the water butts because it was due to rain a lot the next day (Now today). It has rained and they are full again, but that's a lot of litres that haven't flowed into the foundations of the house and the somewhat damp cellar!
