Field vole

I think that this is a field vole. We came across it on a 7.3 mile walk from Kelso to Roxburgh along the north bank of the Teviot and back to Kelso again along the former track of the Tweedmouth-Kelso-St Boswells railway line. It was an absolutely beautiful warm (if blustery) autumn afternoon, as can be seen from my extra. The other highlight of the walk was the purchase of a slab of tablet from the Speckled Hen 'bakery' in the shed at Roxburgh Mill Farm.

The choice of our walk was determined by the venue of the latest round of 'Pass the Ma-rcel'. We handed Mummy hazelh over to the care of my not-so-little sister at the Mayfield garden centre in Kelso at lunchtime.

Earlier in the day I rode my exercise bike, finished off the work in the yarden that was interrupted by rain yesterday afternoon, completed Mummy hazelh's packing, tidied the spare room, and washed and hung out three loads of laundry.

The biggest surprise of the day came when Mummy hazelh suddenly announced from the back of the car that she once studied Gaelic. To prove this she uttered a sentence that translates as 'My hamster is in the loch'. We were astounded!

Exercise today: 45 minutes on the exercise bike; 7.3 mile walk (26,759 steps including walk)
