The Autumn Equinox

The wheel of the year turns, and we begin today to slide into the darkening season.  The nights are chilly now, but the days are still nice.  I see the sun rise on the trees across the street at this time of year, but it will slowly move southward as the days shorten.  Bob will come and mow this morning.  There will be one more mow in late October.  He won't be mowing around the apple trees though since the apples are falling and I leave them for the deer to fatten up on.  They know the wheel is turning too.  Gift#263: the cool days of autumn.
